 Non local enrolments

Students are able to apply for non local enrolment to our school.

A student is eligible to apply for St Marys Senior High School as a non local enrolment if he/she:

  • Is a permanent resident of Australia or holds an authority to enrol issued by the Department of Education and
  • Is not under an unresolved suspension or expulsion from another NSW government school and
  • Provides a completed Non Local Expression of Interest (EOI) form accompanied by adequate documentation as outlined below, including evidence of an attitude and commitment to learning that is positive in character.

Enrolment procedures for non local enrolment - Year 11 2025

The expression of interest process for non local enrolment in 2025 is now open.

The school opens applications for non local enrolments by the start of Semester One each year for the following calendar year. During this enrolment period, those who reside outside the school drawing area may lodge a Non Local Expression of Interest (EOI) for enrolment. 

When they are available, please follow the process below to lodge your Non Local Expression of Interest Form for Year 11 2025

Applicants must:

1. Register your details online using this link

2. Download the St Marys Senior High School Year 11 Non Local Expression of Interest (EOI) form.  

3. Complete the St Marys Senior High School Year 11 Non Local Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

4. Provide copies of the following documents which are all necessary for an application to be considered:

  • A copy of your most recent school report certified on every page by a Justice of the Peace. This must coincide with the applicant's last semester of education. For Year 11 2025 this will require the Semester 2 Year 9 report. Interim and progress reports will not be accepted. To assist families to complete the certification process of Semester 2 Year 9 Reports, a Justice of the Peace will be available on the school site every Tuesday and Wednesday during the school term, commencing on 26 March 2024. If you wish to avail yourself of this free service, bookings are required and can be made via our online booking system found via this link. 
  • Applicants who have recently been engaged in employment or education in a TAFE setting should contact the school regarding required records.

5. Lodge the completed Non Local EOI form with the school office by the advertised closing date. For 2025 applications, the closing date is before 4:00 pm on Friday 24 May 2024.

If you post your application to the school, a receipt will be mailed back to you for your records.

 

If there are any questions about your application, a staff member will contact you to address the concern so that your application can be resubmitted to the panel for consideration.

All expressions of interest lodged during the non local enrolment period will be reviewed by the enrolment panel in one process. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application within six weeks of the closing date.

We will assess applications for non-local enrolment on a case-by-case basis.

Key dates for non local enrolment in Year 11 2025

  • Non Local Expression of Interest Enrolment forms available - Wednesday 13 December 2023.
  • Open Evening - rescheduled to Friday 3 May 2024, 2pm - 6pm - our original evening was postponed, due to forecasts of dangerous weather.
  • Non Local Expressions of Interest for Year 11 2025 close - 4:00pm on Friday 24 May 2024. 
  • Enrolment Committee meets - June 2024.
  • Successful applicants will be notified late Term 2 2024.

  • Provides a completed Local Expression of Interest (EOI) form accompanied by adequate documentation as outlined below.

Enrolment procedures for local enrolment

Applicants must:

2. Complete the St Marys Senior High School Local Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

3. Contact the school for an enrolment interview with copies of the following documents which are all necessary for an application to be processed:

  • A copy of the most recent school report certified on every page by a Justice of the Peace. This must coincide with the last semester of education. Interim and progress reports will not be accepted.
  • For those who have been engaged in employment or education in a TAFE setting, please contact the school regarding required records.
  • Proof of identify and evidence of your residential status (e.g. birth certificate, passport and visa).
  • Documents that confirm medical conditions experienced by the student and a current medical plan from a general practitioner. This includes anaphylaxis, asthma, allergies and all serious medical conditions. The Department of Education requires parents to provide full disclosure of all medical conditions. Parents must contact the Principal and/or Deputy Principal to discuss medical conditions and appropriate documentation.
  • Please note that the Department of Education requires all students with anaphylaxis to carry their Epipen autoinjector and a current ASCIA anaphylaxis personal action plan with them at all times at school. The plan should be wrapped around the Epipen box and secured with a rubber band.
  • You will be required to provide documents that add up to a minimum of 100 points. Please refer to the 100 points checklist found in the EOI form. These documents must be in the family name, for the current residential address and be originals or certified true copies. In some circumstances the enrolment panel may request additional documentation to support enrolment applications.


Distance education

Distance education is an equity program for students who are geographically isolated or whose individual circumstances prevent them from regularly attending school. Students must meet one of the conditions in the Distance Education Enrolment Procedures to be eligible to access this program as a full-time student.

Distance education schools also provide single subjects for students in Years 9 to 12 to enhance curriculum choice. Please contact us for details.

 Temporary visa holders

Contact: 1300 300 229. Following the issue of an Authority to Enrol, follow the procedures outlined above for Australian Residence enrolment.


 Appeals

Where a parent/carer wishes to appeal against the decision of the enrolment panel, the appeal should be made in writing to the Principal. The Principal will seek to resolve the matter in line with the school policy. If the matter is not resolved at the local level the Director Educational Leadership will consider the appeal and make a determination. The purpose of the appeal is to determine whether the stated criteria in the school policy have been applied fairly.
